Comedy of Errors

On Wednesday September 14th 2011 the cast of Comedy of Errors set off from Aylsham High School to the Playhouse in Norwich to take part in a workshop with the National Youth Theatre as part of the National Shakespeare Festival.
These students have been working hard to prepare their own unique performance of Shakespeare’s play, even coming into school during the summer holidays to rehearse. The performance is set on a hot Mediterranean island which makes for a colourful spectacle complete with fly swats, ice-creams and carafes of wine! The plot is hilarious with lots of mistaken identities and the arrival of the terrifying Dr Pinch-in our case a student in a sparkly dress complete with angels to sing “Blow Gabriel”, Shakespeare would turn in his grave!
At the Playhouse the cast were given a chance to work with another school on the stage, experimenting with new voice warmups and many other drama activities. They were also able to demonstrate the first fifteen minutes of their performance.
Tickets for the evening performance on November 1st at 7pm are available from The Playhouse in Norwich from the box office 01603 598 598.
This performance can be seen at AHS later in the year. On Saturday 3rd of December we are presenting a Shakespearean evening. This begins at 6pm with Christmas craft stalls and refreshments. A performance of Romeo & Juliet directed by the Drama Captains is followed by the Comedy of Errors. Come and join us for an evening of entertainment by the students of Aylsham High School.
Tickets available from t.wiseman@aylshamhigh.norfolk.sch.uk or telephone 01263 733270.
