The Cast of 42nd Street

The cast of 42nd Street will be performing at Aylsham Town Hall on Friday 17 November for the very first time!!

The evening is being hosted by the Friends of Aylsham High School who work tirelessly to support all departments within the school. They have raised over £4000 last year from school discos, per-loved uniform sales and raffles.

The evening starts at 7pm with an entrance fee of £3.00 which includes a drink & a raffle ticket. Raffle prizes include tickets for a family of four to the opening night of 42nd Street (Wednesday 14 March 2018 7.30pm). Refreshments will be available throughout the evening, a chance to do some Christmas shopping and sit and chat with friends. Stalls include handmade items such as Bunting, scrabble pictures, jewellery, handbags, fudge, chutneys and Christmas decoupage cards.

The story of 42nd Street is one of show business’s most classic and beloved tales. It tells the story of Peggy Sawyer, a talented young performer with stars in her eyes who gets her big break on Broadway.

Peggy arrives to New York City from her hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania, armed with her tap shoes and big dreams. Peggy’s talent catches the eye of legendary Broadway director Julian Marsh, who gives her a spot in the chorus of Pretty Lady, his newest show. Pretty Lady stars Dorothy Brock, the classic Broadway diva, who takes an instant dislike to the new girl in the cast. When Dorothy is injured during the show’s previews, Pretty Lady looks like it will have to close, unless a new girl talented enough to lead the show can be found — someone like Peggy Sawyer!

Peggy’s rise from showgirl to star is the stuff of show business dreams. 42nd Street is full of crowd-pleasing tap dances, popular musical theatre standards, and show-stopping ensemble production numbers.

The students have all learnt to tap which has taken hours and hours of rehearsals, it’s a very fast show with huge dance numbers, a show for all ages and great for families.  Opening night is Wednesday 14 March to Saturday 17 March with a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30pm. Tickets are available via  or available from the school Wednesday lunchtimes 12.40pm to 1.15pm from the 6th December2017.

We look forward to seeing you all for our 20th Year show at Aylsham High School …..
