Visit to the University Technical College

A group of students from Aylsham High School visited the University Technical College Norfolk in preparation for their entry to the ‘F1 in schools’ competition.

Students had the opportunity to tour some of the facility and take part in a variety of challenges throughout the morning. They began the day with a tutorial session using a state of the art computer suite, the focus being an introduction to designing using CAD Solidworks software. Students were walked through the process by our host and head of faculty, Mr David Atwell.

Students were then able to visit the UTC’s F1 team to discuss the competition and all it entailed. There was a question and answer opportunity where students asked some very insightful and relevant questions. They were then invited to put together some cars of their own in order to race against one another on the competitive 20m track.

Students and staff had an inspiring morning at the UTC and it has really peaked their interest and ambition to do well in the competition. A huge thank you to Mr David Atwell, his staff, and students that made us all feel extremely welcome.

Any students interested in a future within engineering would be advised to visit the University Technical College Norfolk on one of their upcoming open days.
