As you may know Aylsham High is, along with six other local Schools, a “Vikings School” meaning that it works closely with North Walsham Rugby Football Club (NWRFC) with their coaches coming into school for sessions and students having the opportunity to attend rugby days and tournaments at the club.  We value this link not just for the access to high quality coaching but also for the mental and physical health benefits sport brings, and because rugby’s and NWRFC’s core values are lifelong skills we want for all our students.

North Walsham, an amateur club, is Norfolk’s premier team and after two successive promotions their first XV (The Vikings) play in National Two East which is a fourth-tier league in the national structure and puts them amongst the leading 80 teams in the country.

Along with Cromer Academy and Stalham High we have been offered free entry to their match against Barnes on 15 October.  Details are on the accompanying poster.  This offer applies to anyone associated with the school such as parents, other family members and staff.  Entry is normally by donation (most adults donate £5, nothing is expected from students) but all you will need to do on the gate is say you are from Aylsham.  There is plenty of free parking available at their ground, Scottow Park, which is on the B1150 about four miles south of North Walsham.

On the day some students will have the opportunity to form a Guard of Honour as the players run onto the pitch, and at half time there will be an on pitch Big Boot Competition between the three schools.  If you are interested in taking part in the Guard of Honour or the Big Boot Competition, please contact Mr Keats in the PE department.

The online match day programme is usually available around midday on the Friday – https://www.nwrfc.club
