Students are able to choose this hair and beauty course as a one year option in either year 10 or 11. Please note that this course is only available to students on certain 'pathways' which are assigned prior to options being selected. The course is a basic introduction to working in the industry sector and would suit any student (male or female) interested in becoming either a hairdresser/barber or beautician and is an essential step on the industry ladder. The school has invested in a purpose built hair salon, with up-to-date equipment, enabling the course to be offered at Aylsham. The course is taught by industry professionals and has proved a very successful start point for many students before moving into the labour market.
Course Content - Consists of 5 units
- Unit 10343 - Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
- Unit 10344 - Presenting a professional image in a salon
- Unit UV30338 - Styling women’s hair
- Unit UV30332 - Hand care
- Unit UV 30336 – Shampoo and conditioning
Assessments - All assessments will be assessed by practical skills and underpinning knowledge.
Useful resources VTCT level 1 certificate in ‘an introduction to the hair and beauty sector’ (QCF) candidate pack. This will be issued to students at the start of the course.
