Welcome from the Health and Social Care Captain of 2025/26

I studied health and social in 2024-2025 and I personally really enjoyed studying the subject since it gave me more confidence and better communication skills. I covered health and social when I was in year 9, and I knew I wanted to follow this subject more as I got older throughout my time at Aylsham high school.

Health and social gives you more experience of working in teams and with other people you don't know. You gain the accessibility to work in health and social care opportunities such as working in a pharmacy, dental practice, opticians and other health sectors. I wanted to become a captain because I've never had an opportunity like this before and I wanted to try something new, as well as the fact that this is one of my favourite subjects. I was excited to work with Mrs Wisemen once again.

I am truly grateful and excited to serve as the Health and Social Care Captain for 2026-2027. I look forward to supporting fellow students with this topic and getting to work beside and with Mrs Wisemen.

Rosa Demmen Health and social captain 2026/2027

Ever since my first Health and Social Care lesson in Year 9, it has quickly become my favourite subject and something I look forward to every day, not just because of what we learn, but because of the real-world impact it carries. Over the course, it has taught me essential life skills. For example, how to communicate effectively across different age groups, the vital role of safeguarding, and the power of treating every individual with respect and empathy.

Health and Social care is a gateway to incredible careers, from social work and therapy to medicine and beyond. As Captain, my goal is to share that passion with students in every year group and help them achieve these skills for a great future career success. I’m very excited to serve as your Health and Social Care Captain for 2026–2027. I can’t wait to work alongside Mrs. Wiseman to support and guide you all!!

The Cambridge National in health and social care will equip learners with sound specialist knowledge and skills for everyday use. It will also challenge all learners, including high attaining learners, by introducing them to demanding material and skills; encouraging independence and creativity; providing tasks that engage with the most taxing aspects of the National Curriculum (including values of care and the current legislation requirements and the importance of softer skills such as communication skills to ensure individuals right to independence and dignity).
